Choosing between the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro comes down to your preferences and needs. If you prefer gaming or require high-performance tasks such as engineering simulations or 3D work, the ASUS with its more powerful AMD processor and Nvidia graphics is better suited. However, it's heavier and not as portable, with a lower battery life than the Lenovo. On the other hand, the Lenovo offers better portability, longer battery life, and is suitable for general use and lighter productivity tasks, thanks to its more compact design and efficient Intel processor. It is also typically less expensive than the ASUS but won't handle intensive tasks as smoothly. The Lenovo also has a touchscreen, while the ASUS does not, which could be important if you prefer interactive use. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers high performance with its advanced CPU and ample RAM, making it suitable for demanding tasks and gaming; the large, high-quality screen enhances visuals but compromises on portability and battery life. Conversely, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro, while also providing sufficient RAM and a high-resolution touchscreen for general use, emphasizes portability and longer battery life, albeit with a less powerful CPU and a smaller, yet still crisp display.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro is good.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 outshines in engineering and design use due to its considerable advantage in processing power with the AMD Ryzen 9 and a superior Nvidia RTX GPU, as well as a larger high-refresh rate screen, ensuring smoother visuals and greater immersion. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro, while still a capable machine with an Intel i5 and Iris Xe graphics, offers greater portability and a higher resolution touchscreen but falls short in raw performance for demanding tasks. Both have ample RAM and high-quality screens, but the ASUS's gaming heritage affords it an edge in GPU-intensive applications at the cost of portability.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
When considering laptops like the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro for general use, features like high resolution and brightness contribute significantly to a pleasant viewing experience, which both seem to deliver. For engineering and design, accurate color reproduction is vital for precision work, and it's likely that both laptops offer wide color gamuts meeting professional standards. However, for gaming and 3D applications, a high refresh rate is crucial to ensure fluid motion and responsiveness; the poor gaming screen quality suggests that both models may have lower refresh rates, which can detract from the immersive experience in fast-paced scenarios.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"The main selling point of the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro versus a regular IdeaPad Slim 7 is its faster Core H-series CPU. In reality, the Core i7-11370H is only marginally faster than the U-series Core i7-1165G7 to the point where most users are not likely to notice the benefits. The slight performance uptick comes at the cost of slightly higher power consumption as well meaning owners will have to deal with potentially warmer temperatures or louder fans to compensate. Unless if you happen to be a power user, then the regular non-Pro model will be more than enough. Once you go 90 Hz, you can't go back."
