If performance for intensive engineering tasks, 3D rendering, machine learning, or gaming is a priority, the ASUS ROG Strix G17 is the better choice due to its higher-end CPU and dedicated graphics. However, this model is heavier and has shorter battery life, making it less ideal for on-the-go use. On the other hand, the Lenovo Flex 5 14 is more portable and has longer battery life, but its integrated graphics are less suited for demanding applications. The Lenovo Flex 5 also offers a touchscreen, which the ASUS does not, adding versatility for general use and note-taking. The Lenovo is generally less expensive, but if budget allows for a more expensive option that excels in high-performance applications, the ASUS may be preferred. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Lenovo Flex 5 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 likely has a high-resolution display with good brightness and panel technology, providing clarity and vibrancy for general use and detailed work in engineering, but its lower refresh rate is a drawback for the fast-paced visuals needed in gaming and 3D applications. On the other hand, the Lenovo Flex 5 14's screen quality, while suitable for everyday tasks and some engineering applications, doesn’t excel in color accuracy or gamuts, limiting its performance in professional design environments. Furthermore, its capabilities for 3D and gaming are hindered by lackluster refresh rates and potentially moderate resolution and panel quality, which do not align with the demands for smoothness and clarity in those use cases.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the Lenovo Flex 5 14 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"The highlight of the latest IdeaPad Flex 5 14 is clearly its AMD CPU. The octa-core Ryzen 7 5700U is insanely fast even when compared to the best Tiger Lake Ultrabooks in the market or even Core H CPUs in many gaming laptops. It's a lot of raw processing power for what is supposed to be a budget 14-inch convertible. If your daily workloads can benefit from extra multi-thread CPU performance, then look no further than the inexpensive AMD-powered Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14. For regular on-the-road browsing or video streaming, however, a slimmer and lighter 10th gen Core Yoga, Spectre, or XPS would be a more balanced option."
