The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is often significantly less expensive and might be a better choice if budget is a primary concern. Although it costs less, it still offers good performance, especially for general use and gaming, with a powerful AMD Ryzen processor and solid graphics card. However, the HP Omen 17, while more expensive, comes with a more advanced graphics card that could provide superior performance for demanding 3D, machine learning, and engineering applications, as well as a slightly higher screen resolution. Both have similar screen sizes and refresh rates. The ASUS model tends to excel in battery life and portability due to its lighter weight and better energy efficiency, making it suitably mobile for daily use. On the other hand, the HP Omen has a bit more raw power for intensive tasks but may require more frequent charging and is slightly heavier, which might limit its portability. Give Feedback

PCMag

Mark Knapp | October 2023
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."

NotebookCheck

Marc Herter | September 2022
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
