The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is a stronger choice for intensive gaming and engineering tasks due to its superior processing and graphics capabilities; however, it's heavier and less portable than the HP Dragonfly Pro 14, which is smaller, lighter, and offers better battery life, making it better for on-the-go use and general productivity tasks. The ASUS is often somewhat more expensive than the HP, which may also influence your decision based on budget considerations. Give Feedback

PCMag

Mark Knapp | October 2023
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."

Brendan Nystedt | March 2023
"I’d say that the HP Dragonfly Pro checks off most of the boxes for this freelancer. It feels nice to use, is zippy and responsive, has great speakers, and even has a relatively sane price. Although it’s an unorthodox choice to pick AMD for this kind of machine, it’s clear that when Ryzen is given a chance to shine, it can kick a lot of butt."
