The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is more expensive and offers a larger screen, more storage, and more RAM, making it better suited for intensive engineering tasks and gaming. In contrast, the Gigabyte G5 is less expensive, lighter, and more portable, making it a better option for general use and mobility. The G17's powerful processor and high-refresh-rate display are ideal for demanding applications, but its larger size and shorter battery life might be less convenient for on-the-go use. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 and Gigabyte G5 are both good for general use, though the ASUS ROG Strix G17 is somewhat better.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers a more powerful CPU and double the RAM of the Gigabyte G5, enhancing its performance for general use, while its superior screen quality with higher resolution and color coverage improves the visual experience. However, it's less portable and has a shorter battery life compared to the Gigabyte G5, which may be easier to carry around but compromises on performance and display quality for these benefits.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Gigabyte G5 is good.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17, with a high-end AMD processor and more RAM, delivers superior performance for engineering and design, and its screen offers higher resolution and color accuracy than the Gigabyte G5, which though featuring the same grade GPU, has a more modest Intel processor and less RAM making it less suitable for very intensive tasks. However, the G17's larger size and weight reduce its portability compared to the lighter Gigabyte G5, which may still handle many engineering tasks well but with lesser screen quality and performance metrics.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Gigabyte G5 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the ASUS ROG Strix G17 provides a vibrant and sharp display due to its higher resolution and brightness, making tasks like browsing and watching videos more enjoyable. The Gigabyte G5's screen may seem less vivid or slightly dimmer, hence the distinction in screen quality. In engineering and design, the ASUS excels because it reproduces colors more accurately, a critical factor when precision in visual representations is necessary, whereas the Gigabyte might display colors less faithfully. For gaming and 3D applications, the ASUS falls short as it lacks a high refresh rate which is essential for smooth motion, whereas the Gigabyte, despite its fair rating, also doesn't meet the standard for top-tier gaming where fluidity is key.

"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"The Gigabyte G5 KE is a midrange gaming laptop that checks most boxes. Gigabyte makes good use of the Core i5-12500H and RTX 3060 Laptop GPU combo, and we find no untoward issues with overall performance. The dual-fan quad-heatpipe cooling arrangement does well to ensure that the underlying hardware doesn't throttle under load. That being said, the display is below par when compared to 2023 standards, especially when competing devices."
