The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers high gaming performance with its AMD Ryzen processor and Nvidia RTX GPU, excelling in engineering tasks and suitable for intensive gaming. Its large 17.3-inch display has a high refresh rate, but this affects portability and battery life, which is modest. On the other hand, the Gigabyte Aero 5's Intel processor and Nvidia RTX GPU provide good performance for 3D and machine learning, with a focus on creative professionals due to its 15.6-inch high-resolution OLED screen, boasting excellent color accuracy. The Aero 5 is more portable with a longer battery life, but less suited for fast-paced games due to the lower refresh rate. Both laptops have the same memory and storage capacities, ensuring solid general use performance. Consider the Strix G17 if gaming and engineering are priorities and you can handle a larger machine, or the Aero 5 if portability, screen quality, and battery life for creative work outweigh gaming needs. The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Gigabyte Aero 5 for gaming and AI, while the Gigabyte Aero 5 has a better screen for general use, and engineering and design.
When considering the ASUS ROG Strix G17, its screen excels in clarity and color representation for general tasks and engineering software due to its high resolution and wide color gamuts, ensuring sharp images and accurate colors. The Gigabyte Aero 5 stands out for similar reasons, offering a vibrant display for both everyday activities and professional design work, with great detail and a range of colors that meet the precise requirements for these fields. However, for Gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short because they lack the high refresh rates needed for smooth motion and fast-paced visuals, which can detract from the gaming experience and visuals in motion-intense scenarios.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the Gigabyte Aero 5 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"It is unfortunate that the Gigabyte AERO notebook series have seem to lost its charm, as it’s not exactly any much different from the AORUS series now. Regardless, content creators and designers will certainly still appreciate the features on the AERO 5 XE4, which are fundamental to their work. This largely revolved around the notebook’s display, which is colour calibrated and validated, high resolution (4K) and with great AMOLED colour representation. Now that the AERO 5 XE4 has improved its performance with the latest CPU and GPU, the professionals can also appreciate the improved productivity from the notebook."
