The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is usually less costly but is heavier and larger, making it less portable than the Eluktronics Mech-15 G3R, which is pricier but more lightweight and compact. Both have similar storage and RAM, but the Strix G17's AMD Ryzen processor and RTX 4060 graphics may handle certain intensive tasks better, while the Mech-15's Intel i7 processor and RTX 3070 Ti graphics excel in other areas. The Strix G17 has a slightly lower battery capacity but comes with a larger 17.3-inch display, which is great for gaming and multimedia, whereas the Mech-15 has a 15.6-inch screen.

The Eluktronics Mech-15 G3R has a better screen than the ASUS ROG Strix G17 for content creation.
When considering screen quality, the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and Eluktronics Mech-15 G3R both provide sharp images and vibrant colors due to their high resolution and panel technology, making them excellent for general use and detailed engineering tasks where color accuracy is crucial. However, their screens fall short for gaming and 3D applications because even though they have satisfactory resolution and panel type, they lack the high refresh rates that are essential for smooth motion rendering in fast-paced scenarios. This makes them less suitable for users who prioritize gaming or work with 3D graphics and require fluid on-screen motion.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Eluktronics Mech-15 G3R to be very good for general use, while the ASUS ROG Strix G17 is good.
The Eluktronics Mech-15 G3R is rated very good for general use largely due to its excellent keyboard, lighter weight, and superior heat management, which includes water cooling, offering a quieter and cooler experience. Although the ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a similarly powerful CPU and RAM, its greater size and weight make it less portable, and its battery life offers less time for use away from a power source compared to the Mech-15 G3R.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the Eluktronics Mech-15 G3R compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"Everything considered, the XMG Neo 15 (Mech-15 G3R) with RTX 3070 Ti is a great gaming performer. The combination of the Ti graphics card with the new Intel 12th gen CPU is enough to go toe-to-toe, and even slightly pull ahead of the RTX 3080 in most titles, though on games with Ray-Tracing enabled, particularly with graphics set to the maximum and on higher resolutions, the additional VRAM of the RTX 3080 makes a big impact, and the 8GB RTX 3070 Ti machine simply can’t compete, even with the more powerful processor."
