Choosing between the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 involves several tradeoffs. The Strix G17 typically costs less and has a higher resolution display, which may be better for productivity and media consumption, but its gaming-oriented performance is slightly lower compared to the Scar 17. The Scar 17, on the other hand, carries a premium price, has a lower resolution screen, but boasts a higher refresh rate, making gaming visuals smoother. If budget is a concern, the G17 offers good value, while if you prioritize top gaming performance and can invest more, the Scar 17 may be your preferred choice. Both have similar battery life, are gaming-focused in appearance, and aren't highly portable due to their size and weight. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 for general use, and engineering and design.
For general use, the ASUS ROG Strix G17's display offers sharp images and vibrant colors due to its high resolution and panel type, ensuring a pleasant viewing experience for daily activities, while the Scar 17 offers similar benefits but at a slightly lower clarity and color vibrancy. In the realm of engineering and design, the G17's wide color gamuts provide professionals with the accuracy needed for precise work, although the Scar 17 still offers competent color reproduction, but with less range. How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."
