If you need a larger screen and top-notch gaming performance, the ASUS ROG Strix G17 with its high refresh rate display and powerful AMD processor could suit you. However, it's slightly heavier and less portable than the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15, which offers a smaller screen and excellent performance too, but with an Intel processor. The G17 generally costs less, whereas the Scar 15 has a higher price point. Both have similar battery life, ample storage, and RAM for demanding tasks. Additionally, the Scar 15 is a bit more portable due to its smaller size and lighter weight. If color accuracy for tasks like video editing is important, consider the G17 with its higher color space coverage. The final decision should be based on how much value you place on screen size, processor brand, portability, and your budget. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
When considering the ASUS ROG Strix G17 for general use, its panel type provides clear, sharp images and its high resolution and brightness make for a vivid display, but for gaming and 3D applications, its lower refresh rate may lead to less fluid motion compared to other gaming-optimized screens. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15, similarly good for general use due to satisfying panel quality and adequate brightness, falls a bit short for engineering and design because it does not cover as wide a range of color gamuts. Although both laptops offer sufficient resolution and panel type for 3D applications, they lack the higher refresh rates needed for the smoothest gaming experience.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."
