The Acer Swift X (2021) usually costs more than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i but comes with a dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 graphics card and a slightly smaller screen size, making it better suited for gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning tasks. Although the IdeaPad Slim 5i has a more powerful processor and more RAM, which is great for general use and engineering tasks, its integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics aren't as capable as the Swift's for graphically intensive tasks. Both laptops are portable and have similar battery life, but if you prioritize screen real estate and keyboard quality, the IdeaPad Slim 5i's larger screen and reportedly better keyboard could be a better fit. The Acer Swift X has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The Acer Swift X offers a screen with higher resolution and brightness, which enhances the general user experience, and its wider color gamut benefits engineers and designers needing accurate color representation. However, its lower refresh rate limits the fluidity required for smooth 3D graphics and gaming. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i provides a balanced screen experience with decent resolution and brightness for everyday tasks and design work, but like the Acer, it falls short for 3D applications due to its inadequate refresh rate.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i and Acer Swift X (2021) are both good for engineering and design.
The Acer Swift X is favored in engineering and design for its dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU which outperforms the integrated Iris Xe graphics in the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i, making it better suited for graphics-intensive tasks; however, the IdeaPad Slim 5i offers twice the RAM, which could benefit multi-tasking and complex projects. Both have quality IPS screens with good resolution, but the Slim 5i's larger screen and 16:10 aspect ratio might be preferred for productivity, although it's slightly heavier and less portable than the Swift X.

How the Acer Swift X (2021) and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i compare to other laptops
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
"The device is made for average work loads and if your work has a lot to do with online browsing, using apps that are not power-hungry and streaming videos. The looks are really good and the device in itself is not a heavy one. And with Intel 11th-gen Core processor, you might sail through most of your work without complaints."
