If your primary concern is gaming or intensive tasks like video editing, the ASUS ROG Strix G17, with its high-performance specs, is well-suited for these demands but comes with less portability due to its size and weight. On the other hand, if you value a balance of performance and the ability to easily carry your device for everyday use or travel, the Acer Swift X (2022) offers a more compact form factor and longer battery life but with less raw power for resource-heavy applications. The choice depends on whether gaming/processing power or portability/battery life is more important to you. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Acer Swift X for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Swift X's screen has adequate resolution and brightness, providing a clear and vivid display that enhances everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming, though it may not match the ASUS ROG Strix G17's superior panel which offers sharper images and more illumination. In engineering and design, where precise color representation is crucial, both laptops have good color coverage, but the ASUS typically has a slight edge with better coverage of professional color gamuts, aiding in more accurate design work. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the refresh rate is key for smooth visuals, and the ASUS ROG Strix G17 may fall short compared to other gaming-specialized laptops, as would the Acer Swift X, meaning neither are optimal for high-frame-rate gaming despite their other strengths.

How the Acer Swift X (2022) and the ASUS ROG Strix G17 compare to other laptops
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
