If you prioritize a higher performance for tasks like 3D rendering, and machine learning, and you don't mind a heavier laptop with slightly shorter battery life, the Dell XPS 15 may suit you. However, if portability and longer battery life are more important to you, and you're looking for a budget-friendly option that still offers solid general use performance, the Acer Swift 3 could be the better option. Keep in mind though, for intensive gaming, neither of these might offer the best experience. Remember, the Dell XPS 15 is at a higher price point compared to the Acer Swift 3 which is less expensive. The Dell XPS 15 is very good for general use, while the Acer Swift 3 is good.
The Dell XPS 15 excels in general use over the Acer Swift 3 due to its superior CPU and screen quality, featuring a more powerful processor for smoother performance and a brighter, higher resolution display for more vivid images. Though both laptops share the same amount of memory and similar SSD storage, the Dell has a larger, higher-capacity battery, contributing to its durability but at a cost to its weight and portability compared to the lighter and more portable Acer Swift 3.

The Dell XPS 15 and Acer Swift 3 are both only fair for gaming and AI, though the Dell XPS 15 is somewhat better.
The Dell XPS 15 provides a better experience for gaming and 3D applications primarily due to its superior Intel Arc A370M GPU, in contrast to the Acer Swift 3's less powerful Intel Iris Xe graphics which is acceptable for less demanding games. While both have similar screen refresh rates and IPS panel types, the higher-quality screen coupled with a more advanced Intel i7 CPU in the Dell XPS 15 contributes to its better performance in these intensive tasks compared to the Acer Swift 3's entry-level offerings.

The Dell XPS 15 has a better screen than the Acer Swift 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering general use, both the Acer Swift 3 and the Dell XPS 15 offer panels with high resolution and brightness, ensuring crisp and clear viewing for everyday tasks like browsing or watching videos. For engineering and design purposes, both laptops provide wide color gamuts, allowing for precise color work in applications such as graphic design or video editing. However, for gaming and 3D applications, they fall short as they come with lower refresh rates, which can lead to less fluid visuals in fast-paced games or interactive 3D environments.

How the Acer Swift 3 and the Dell XPS 15 compare to other laptops
"With the Swift 3, Acer delivers a 14-inch laptop with a sleek, slim metal chassis. The latter is of high quality and sturdy enough for everyday use, which is a real plus point among the 700-Euro (~$798) models. A new feature is Thunderbolt 4 in the Type-C format for peripherals or even displays (DisplayPort via Type-C). Unfortunately, a card reader is still missing, and the RAM is completely onboard, so there are no upgrade options here. Acer's 14-incher is affordable, yet it does everything most would want from a truly mobile laptop: Long battery life, a great display, quality, sufficient ports, light weight, and low noise and heat emissions."
"The 2023 Dell XPS 15 is more or less exactly what you'd expect from the company flagship. Its fresh components deliver measurably superior power and longevity, while the machine's premium build and design remain intact. It may not be overly exciting, but XPS loyalists and upgraders should be more than happy."
