The Acer Nitro 5 15 is a better fit for gaming and 3D/machine learning tasks, thanks to its superior graphics unit. It also has a higher refresh rate display, making fast motion appear smoother, which is beneficial for gaming. On the other hand, the HP Envy 17 offers a larger screen and touch capability, making it a better choice for general use and multimedia consumption. It also boasts slightly better battery life and a higher quality webcam and speakers. Both laptops have similar storage, memory, and are in the same price range, but they cater to different usage preferences and priorities. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Sascha Mölck | June 2022
"The Acer Nitro 5 is a fast QHD gaming notebook. The Nitro 5 is a well-balanced gaming laptop for just under US$ 2400. A Core i7-12700H CPU and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU enable QHD gaming at high to maximum settings, accompanied by fast PCIe-4-SSD (1 TB) and 16 GB of RAM. Acer delivers a solid QHD gaming notebook with the Nitro 5 AN515-58. However, the laptop is not completely free of shortcomings. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The laptop heats up noticeably under load, but not excessively. Noise development is on the usual class level. Once again, however, Acer needs to improve the fan control."

Marcus Schwarten | April 2023
"In our test, the HP Envy 17-cr0079ng presents itself as a balanced multimedia laptop. Thanks to its solid CPU performance and dedicated entry-level GeForce, it can also be used for playing video games, as long as the demands aren't too high. Those looking for more can find it in the Dell XPS 17 for example."
