The Acer Nitro 5 15, typically geared towards gaming, offers robust performance suitable for intensive tasks like 3D rendering or machine learning and can handle most modern games well. However, it's bulkier and might have less battery life, making it less convenient for travel. On the other hand, the Dell XPS 13 is more portable with a sleek design and longer battery life, making it ideal for general use and carrying around. If portability and battery life are crucial for you and your tasks aren't very demanding, the Dell XPS 13 would be the better choice, while for more performance-oriented needs, despite the higher price, the Acer Nitro 5 15 would serve you better. For general use, the Dell XPS 13 provides a bright, high-resolution display that makes everyday tasks like web browsing and document editing clear and comfortable for the eyes, while the Acer Nitro 5's quality is ample but not as superior due to lower brightness or resolution. Engineering and design professionals would appreciate the Dell XPS 13's wide color gamut, offering more accurate color representation which is crucial for detailed work, whereas the Acer Nitro 5 might not cover these color ranges as comprehensively. Gamers and 3D designers would find the Acer Nitro 5's refresh rate lacking for smooth visuals, while the Dell XPS 13's refresh rate would also fall short, although its resolution and panel type may provide some visual clarity despite slower screen updates.

How the Acer Nitro 5 15 and the Dell XPS 13 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Nitro 5 is a fast QHD gaming notebook. The Nitro 5 is a well-balanced gaming laptop for just under US$ 2400. A Core i7-12700H CPU and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU enable QHD gaming at high to maximum settings, accompanied by fast PCIe-4-SSD (1 TB) and 16 GB of RAM. Acer delivers a solid QHD gaming notebook with the Nitro 5 AN515-58. However, the laptop is not completely free of shortcomings. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The laptop heats up noticeably under load, but not excessively. Noise development is on the usual class level. Once again, however, Acer needs to improve the fan control."
"In the past, the XPS 13 was a hands-down contender for the best laptop on the market. But the Apple-silicon MacBook has since barrelled onto the scene, and it wipes the floor with most of the ultraportable Windows laptops that cross my desk on a daily basis. This XPS is no exception. Compared to the M2 MacBook Air, battery life is worse."
