The Acer Nitro 16 offers a newer GPU and a higher resolution screen with a taller aspect ratio, which might be better for tasks like coding and document editing. It also boasts a higher battery capacity and refresh rate, which favors longer use and smooth visuals, plus it offers a backlit RGB keyboard and additional ports for peripherals. However, the MSI GP66 Leopard possesses a powerful CPU alongside its high-end GPU which provides excellent performance for gaming and engineering purposes, though with a lower battery life and a Full HD screen. Consider the Acer for more screen real estate and battery longevity, or the MSI for top-tier gaming and CPU-intensive tasks, keeping in mind they are similar in weight, with the Acer being slightly heavier. The Acer Nitro 16 has a better screen than the MSI GP66 Leopard for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
When considering general use, the Acer Nitro 16's superior panel type, resolution, and brightness deliver a clearer and more vibrant visual experience compared to the MSI GP66 Leopard. For engineering and design tasks, the Acer's wider color gamuts provide more accurate color representation, essential for precise visual work. However, for gaming and 3D applications where rapid movements are common, the MSI GP66 Leopard's higher refresh rate, which is more important than color accuracy or resolution, offers a smoother visual experience despite having lower overall screen quality.

The Acer Nitro 16 and MSI GP66 Leopard are both good for general use.
The Acer Nitro 16 is favored for general use due to its strong AMD Ryzen CPU and ample RAM, which offer solid performance for everyday tasks, along with a high-quality, larger screen that provides an enjoyable viewing experience, although its heavier weight and larger size may reduce portability. The MSI GP66 Leopard also suits general use with a capable Intel CPU and similar RAM capacity, complemented by a high-refresh-rate screen for smoother visuals, and it gains an edge in portability with its lighter weight, but the tradeoff comes with a shorter battery life compared to the Acer Nitro 16.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Acer Nitro 16 to be very good for engineering and design, while the MSI GP66 Leopard is good.
The Acer Nitro 16's AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU, coupled with a high-resolution, color-accurate 16-inch IPS display, render it very good for engineering and design due to its superior performance in processing and graphics tasks. In contrast, while the MSI GP66 Leopard also supports engineering and design with a capable Intel i7 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU, the slightly lesser screen quality and lower battery capacity may yield less optimal results for such intensive work.

How the Acer Nitro 16 and the MSI GP66 Leopard compare to other laptops
"Video editing, rendering and, of course, gaming represent the Nitro 16's core competencies with a Ryzen 7 7735HS and GeForce RTX 4070 providing the necessary power. Both chips run at consistently high clock speeds. A fast PCIe 4 SSD (1 TB) provides the required storage space and ensures short loading times. With the Nitro 16 AN16-41, Acer has a well-specced, mid-range gaming laptop in its portfolio."
"The MSI GP66 Leopard is a good budget high-performance gamer. The MSI also does a lot right outside of the pure performance despite it's low price. For example, the adaptive cooling system really surprised us positively, even in Extreme Performance Mode. And the display is not a budget panel either, but at least outshines the competition in terms of brightness. Of course, you also have to accept a few compromises in this price category. These include the Leopard's poor battery runtimes and the less than optimal build quality, which is also noticeable in the more complicated maintenance."
