Given the Acer Aspire 5 17 is often less expensive, you'll save money, but it has less RAM compared to the Lenovo LOQ 15, which could be more beneficial for multitasking and demanding applications. The Lenovo also features a higher refresh rate display and dedicated graphics card, making it more suitable for gaming and creative tasks that require graphical power, while the Acer relies on integrated graphics, better suited for everyday tasks and less intensive workloads. With the Acer Aspire, you gain a larger screen, which might be preferable for productivity or media consumption, but this can also mean reduced portability compared to the slightly smaller Lenovo. Both have similar storage, battery capacity, and run Windows 11 Home, but consider the extra features and build quality, the Lenovo might have an edge if you need more robust performance for engineering, 3D work, or machine learning, whereas the Acer Aspire is a more budget-friendly option for general use. The Lenovo LOQ 15 is good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Lenovo LOQ 15 outperforms the Acer Aspire 5 17 in gaming and 3D applications because it boasts a higher-end Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU and a higher screen refresh rate, both very important for smooth and detailed gaming experiences. Additionally, the Lenovo has a more powerful CPU and better screen quality, contributing to improved overall performance and visuals, though somewhat less crucial than the GPU and refresh rate.

The Lenovo LOQ 15 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Lenovo LOQ 15 is better suited for engineering and design because it has a more powerful AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and twice the RAM of the Acer Aspire 5 17, along with a dedicated Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU which substantially outweighs the integrated graphics in the Acer, allowing for more demanding tasks and better performance with design applications. Furthermore, the Lenovo's higher screen pixel density and brightness contribute to a clearer and more vibrant display which is crucial for detailed engineering and graphic design work.

The Lenovo LOQ 15 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 5 17's screen offers enough clarity and brightness to comfortably manage everyday tasks like browsing and document editing. Engineers and designers might find its color reproduction adequate for less color-critical work, as it doesn't excel in the wider color gamuts needed for high-end visual tasks. In contrast, its lower refresh rate would be a drawback for gaming and 3D work, which demand quick screen updates for smooth visuals.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Lenovo LOQ 15 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"Even after a short time with the LOQ 15, you'll find it has a lot going for it, but ultimately it's just "good"—not quite a star. The performance is respectable for the hardware it’s running, but Lenovo had to make some design sacrifices to trim the price. One of the better aspects is the keyboard, making it one of the better low-cost gaming laptops to actually put your hands on."
