The Acer Aspire 5 17 has a larger screen, more robust integrated graphics, and includes a number pad on its keyboard, making it suitable for users who enjoy a larger display for multitasking and prefer a full-sized keyboard. However, it is slightly heavier, which can impact portability. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" sports a touchscreen and generally offers a bit longer battery life, which can be important for those who need to work on the go. It also has a stronger processor but less powerful graphics compared to the Acer. Both laptops are priced similarly and can handle general use well, but if you need to do more demanding tasks like 3D rendering or machine learning, neither is specifically tailored for those types of tasks. Choose the Acer if you prefer a bigger screen and don't mind the extra weight, or the Lenovo if you value portability and touch capability. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use.
When considering screen quality for general use, both the Acer Aspire 5 and the Lenovo IdeaPad have decent panels with suitable resolution and brightness, offering adequate clarity and visibility for everyday tasks. For engineering and design purposes, where accurate color representation is crucial, their screens fall short as they do not cover a wide range of the color gamuts, which might not render colors precisely as needed. However, for gaming and 3D, these laptops are less suitable due to their lower refresh rates which can lead to less smooth visuals, and while the resolution and panel types are acceptable, they won't provide the premium experience dedicated gaming laptops offer.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" and Acer Aspire 5 17 are both good for general use.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 offers a good experience for general use with its decent Intel CPU and enough RAM for everyday tasks, coupled with a large 17.3-inch screen that provides clear visuals at a standard resolution but at the cost of reduced portability due to its larger size and weight. Meanwhile, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is also suitable for general use with a more powerful AMD Ryzen CPU and additional RAM, which may provide a smoother performance; it has a smaller, yet high-quality screen with a higher pixel density and better brightness, and its lighter weight and longer battery life make it more portable, striking a balance between performance and ease of carrying.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
