If you value a larger screen and potentially more robust performance for things like video editing or multitasking, the higher cost of the Acer Aspire 5 17 may be justified. However, if you prioritize a more flexible and portable device with touchscreen capabilities for casual use, drawing, or note-taking, the HP Envy x360 15" would be an economical and versatile choice. Keep in mind that portability usually comes with a tradeoff in terms of screen size and sometimes performance, while higher performance laptops can be heavier and pricier. Give Feedback

The Acer Aspire 5 17 and the HP Envy x360 15" have similar screen quality.
When evaluating laptops for general use, like the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the HP Envy x360 15", fair screen quality often means that while the resolution and brightness are adequate, they may not be the highest available, leading to less vivid and sharp images. For engineering and design tasks, these laptops offer fair screen quality because they likely support a reasonable range of colors, but may not fully cover professional color spaces like DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB, which can be crucial for precision work. As for gaming and 3D applications, the poor screen quality designation generally stems from average refresh rates that do not provide the smoothest motion, along with only moderate importance placed on resolution and panel type, which might not deliver the rich details and quick response times desired by enthusiasts.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the HP Envy x360 15" compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"Despite its good looks, stellar webcam and comfortable keyboard, the Envy x360 15 is hard to recommend because of its dim, 16:9 display. If the display isn't an issue for you, just be sure to wait for a good sale price. Otherwise, a more modern two-in-one with a 16:10 display such as the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 or Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 provides a larger workspace without adding much to the size and weight of the system."
