The Acer Aspire 5 17 is less expensive, lighter, and has a larger screen, making it suitable for general use and good for productivity tasks with its number pad and longer battery life, which is beneficial if you need to work away from power outlets. However, the Lenovo LOQ 16, while slightly more costly and heavier, provides much better performance for 3D and machine learning applications, engineering tasks, and intensive gaming, thanks to its more powerful AMD processor, Nvidia graphics, and higher screen refresh rate, which is also great for fast-motion content. The Lenovo also has a higher portability rating, suggesting it's easier to carry despite being heavier, and it has a better-quality keyboard and webcam, making it a strong contender for video conferencing and typing-intensive tasks. The Lenovo LOQ 16 is good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Lenovo LOQ 16 is better equipped for engineering and design tasks with a more powerful AMD Ryzen CPU and Nvidia RTX GPU, and twice the RAM compared to the Acer Aspire 5 17, which runs an Intel i5 CPU with integrated graphics and half the RAM. Although the Lenovo has a smaller and slightly more portable design, it compensates with a higher quality screen, both in resolution and color accuracy, making it more suitable for detail-oriented work.

The Lenovo LOQ 16 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 5 17 offers an adequate display with enough clarity and brightness, but the Lenovo LOQ 16 exceeds this with superior sharpness and luminosity, enhancing everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming. The Lenovo's advantage extends to engineering and design work, where its screen's wider color gamut accurately represents a broader range of colors, crucial for detail-oriented projects. However, both laptops fall short for gaming and 3D applications, as their screens lack the high refresh rates needed for smooth, responsive visuals in fast-paced environments, despite having satisfactory resolution and panel types for other uses.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the Lenovo LOQ 16 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"Gaming laptops with an RTX 4060 are available starting from about 1,000 Euros (~$1,060), even in 16-inch format. For the supposedly affordable Lenovo LOQ 16 (1,500 Euros, ~$1,591), the manufacturer particularly saves in the equipment and materials compared to the more expensive Legion series. In addition, the LOQ is slightly heavier and more bulky. What remains is anything but a laptop full of difficult compromises. Instead, this is a more than solid gaming laptop that focusses on the 3D performance.Q is slightly heavier and more bulky."
