The Acer Aspire 5 17 is less expensive with a large screen and decent performance for general use, but it may not handle intensive gaming or complex engineering tasks as well. The Gigabyte Aero 16, on the other hand, is more expensive but offers greater performance with its more powerful processor and graphics card, suitable for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering applications. It also has a superior OLED screen with better color coverage and resolution, ideal for creative professionals. However, the Aero 16 is slightly heavier and may have a shorter battery life than the Aspire 5. Both have ample ports, but the Aero provides additional features like hardware ray tracing, DLSS, and a backlit keyboard which could enhance your user experience significantly if those features align with your needs. The Gigabyte Aero 16 is very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 5 17 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 5 17 is geared more towards general use, with modest processor and graphics capabilities, good for lighter engineering and design tasks, while having a lower resolution screen which might not be ideal for detailed design work. In contrast, the Gigabyte Aero 16 stands out for very good engineering and design use with a higher-end CPU and GPU, a high-resolution OLED screen for crisp visuals, and double the memory, ensuring smoother multitasking and handling of complex software, but it comes with slightly less portability and potentially a higher noise level under heavy workloads.

The Gigabyte Aero 16 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 5's screen offers adequate resolution and brightness, making it suitable for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing, but the Gigabyte Aero 16's higher resolution and better brightness provide a clearer and more vibrant display. In the realm of engineering and design, where color accuracy is crucial, the Aero 16's wider color gamut ensures precise color representation, essential for professional graphic work, while the Aspire 5 falls short. However, for Gaming and 3D applications that demand fast motion handling, both laptops have lower refresh rates, limiting their ability to deliver smooth visuals in fast-paced scenarios.

"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"The Gigabyte Aero 16 is a workstation laptop for light gaming. It's design is still muted, with a silver chassis alongside a black keyboard and trackpad that provides some contrast. The Gigabyte Aero’s full-size chiclet-style keyboard is enjoyable to type on thanks to its snappy feel and responsiveness. The 4K+ AMOLED display is good, but it could be better. It doesn’t handle true black very well and suffers from strong reflections and glare. The Gigabyte Aero excels at productivity performance and can keep up with other gaming laptops in 1080p. But it has very few ports and its refresh rate leaves a bit to be desired."
