The ASUS TUF Gaming F15 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 5 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 5 provides adequate resolution and brightness allowing for comfortable everyday tasks, yet the screen might not be as vibrant as the ASUS TUF Gaming F15, which offers better visual quality due to its higher brightness and sharper display. The Acer falls short for engineering and design because it lacks the color accuracy and range needed for precision work, which the ASUS marginally addresses with slightly better color gamut coverage. For gaming and 3D applications, the Acer's lower refresh rate hinders smooth motion rendering, while the ASUS also struggles with refresh rate, not fully meeting the demands of fast-paced visual content.

How the Acer Aspire 5 17 and the ASUS TUF Gaming F15 compare to other laptops
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
"Aside from all the chassis updates, the new TUF Gaming is most notable for its much higher TGP target of 140 W compared to only 95 W on the previous generation. PC makers everywhere are using the same GeForce GPUs this year since Nvidia has yet to launch the successor to the mobile RTX 3000 series. The more demanding processors of the new TUF Gaming has directly impacted battery life and the size of the AC adapter. Don't expect runtimes to be longer than on the previous generation under most conditions and be prepared to carry around an even larger AC adapter than before."
