The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is significantly less expensive and more portable, making it suitable for general use, including its touch screen feature and silent operation. On the other hand, the Dell G15 5520, while more expensive, offers stronger performance for 3D, machine learning, gaming, and engineering tasks due to a better processor and graphics card, though it is less portable and has a shorter battery life. The Dell G15 5520 is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is only fair.
The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 has modest performance due to its lower-end CPU and RAM, and has a fair screen quality; however, it offers better portability and silent fanless operation which is excellent for on-the-go usage and quiet environments.

The Dell G15 5520 is good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is poor.
The Dell G15 5520 outperforms the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 in gaming and 3D applications due to its Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card and a higher screen refresh rate of 165 Hz, compared to the Aspire's integrated Intel i3-N305 UHD Graphics Xe and 60 Hz refresh rate. While both laptops have IPS screens, the dedicated GPU in the Dell G15 offers better frame rates and visual clarity for gaming and 3D rendering.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14's fair screen quality is likely due to its average resolution and brightness, which are adequate for daily tasks but not exceptional, while the Dell G15 5520's good screen quality suggests it provides clearer and brighter visuals. In the domain of engineering and design, both the Acer and Dell have screen quality that supports a reasonable range of colors, but they may lack the full spectrum found in higher-end displays that cover more of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB gamuts, which are crucial for precise color work. However, for gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is key, both laptops have poor screen quality, likely due to lower refresh rates that result in less fluid motion compared to screens designed specifically for these uses.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | November 2023
"The Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 is okay for school use. It feels reasonably well-built, and its compact design makes it easy to carry around. The battery lasts around seven hours of light use, so you only have to plug it in for a short time to get through a typical school day. The overall user experience is so-so; the display looks sharp but dim, and the touchpad is fairly responsive, albeit small."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
