The Acer Aspire 1 is significantly less expensive and offers basic features suitable for general use like web browsing and document editing. It also operates silently without a fan. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" costs more but provides substantially better performance, making it suitable for more intensive engineering tasks, 3D design, and machine learning applications. It also has a touchscreen, backlit keyboard, and a larger storage capacity. While the Acer may be adequate for everyday tasks, the Lenovo stands out for its higher performance, despite being less portable due to its battery life and its additional features, which contribute to its higher cost. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is good for general use, while the Acer Aspire 1 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 1 has a less powerful CPU, less RAM, and a lower-quality TN screen, which may not offer as vibrant colors or wide viewing angles as the IPS screen found on the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15", thus making the latter a better choice for general use. The Lenovo also has a larger storage capacity, a stronger battery life, and additional features like a backlit keyboard and touchscreen, improving overall user experience for daily activities compared to the Acer Aspire 1.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is only fair for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 1 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 1 falls short for gaming and 3D tasks because it has a less powerful GPU which is crucial for rendering graphics smoothly, and its screen refresh rate isn't as high, leading to potential lag during fast-paced scenes. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" offers a better GPU for improved graphic performance and a higher screen refresh rate that can handle the demands of gaming and 3D applications more effectively, although its CPU and screen quality are also factors to consider for overall performance and visual experience.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is only fair for engineering and design, while the Acer Aspire 1 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 1 is considered poor for engineering and design use because it comes with an Intel Celeron N4500 processor, 4GB of RAM, and an entry-level integrated graphics chip, which may struggle with demanding tasks and complex software typical in engineering and design workflows.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 1 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Acer Aspire 1 may have a lower resolution and dimmer display, making it less suitable across all use cases, particularly for general use where clarity and ease of reading are key. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" likely has a brighter and sharper display, providing a better experience for general use and more precise work in engineering and design, but it still falls short for gaming and 3D due to average color representation and a refresh rate not suited for fast-paced visuals. Both laptops seem to lack the high refresh rates required for smooth 3D rendering and the extensive color gamut necessary for accurate color work in professional design environments.

How the Acer Aspire 1 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"There are no surprises and nothing's extraordinary here but this laptop's price. For those in need of an inexpensive Windows laptop for undemanding tasks, though, the Acer Aspire 1 offers just enough to get the basics done and a larger screen to do them on."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
