If you prioritize audio quality and are mostly listening at home or in a studio, the Audio Technica ATH M20X headphones offer very good sound with a closed back for better isolation, yet their non-detachable long cable and poor comfort might be drawbacks. On the other hand, JBL Tune Buds are more versatile for on-the-go use, featuring good wireless sound, portability, and are sweatproof and dustproof, making them suitable for exercise and travel, but they aren't the best for calls or gaming due to their fair microphone quality and potential for audio latency. Audio Technicas are a budget-friendly option with a focus on sound quality over features, while JBLs, at a slightly higher price, offer modern conveniences like wireless connectivity and an app with customization options. Soundguys

Jasper Lastoria | September 2023
"Audio-Technica positively defies what you can expect for around $50. Ultimately, Audio-Technica did not design the ATH-M20x to go on the subway with you. It’s for the budget-conscious, do-it-yourself producer, podcaster, or studio that needs to buy tracking cans in bulk. If you don’t need the most deluxe, comfortable headphones, maybe you’ll like the ATH-M20x for its spartan functionality. The headphones are aimed at giving you the minimum requirements without it feeling like a sacrifice."

Tim Gideon | September 2023
"JBL’s Tune Buds stick with the company’s signature bass-heavy sound by default, but a quality in-app EQ lets you sculpt the audio to taste. These noise-cancelling true wireless earphones also mitigate environmental distractions fairly well for the price and offer good battery life. If you're specifically seeking bold, bass-tuned audio out of the box, the Tune Buds are worth a listen."
