The Samsung QN85B is a more budget-friendly LCD TV and performs well in bright rooms because of its high brightness levels. It's also a strong choice for gaming with its low input lag and quick response times. However, its picture quality in dark rooms isn't as strong as the Sony A95K. On the other hand, the Sony A95K, an OLED TV, offers superior overall picture quality, especially in dark rooms where its perfect blacks and high contrast shine. It's also excellent for watching sports, movies, and animated content, but it's more expensive. If you have a well-controlled lighting environment and are looking for top-notch image quality, the Sony A95K is an excellent choice, though not as bright as the Samsung QN85B. Give Feedback

What Hi-Fi?

John Archer | February 2023
"Particularly key to this is the fact that black levels are unusually good, on a level we haven’t seen from any IPS TV before. Build quality is impressive too, with a gleaming silver metallic frame and stand, and enough heft to suggest plenty of quality innards. High dynamic range content jumps off the screen with enough luminosity and intensity to really sell what makes HDR special."

Caleb Denison | March 2022
"A95K will be one of the highest-performing TVs of the year, if not the hottest TV of 2022. The color on the Sony A95K is the most accurate I have ever seen. Certain hues of red just haven’t been produced on a TV … until now. Perhaps with deeper scrutiny, I may one day find some nit to pick, but in the time I was able to spend with the A95K, I was simply thrilled."

About Sony

Sony stands as a highly experienced and widely trusted TV manufacturer, earning a reputation that surpasses all others. A Japanese company, Sony has been making TVs for far longs than it has been making Playstation game consoles. Sony's high-end TVs are often regarded as the ultimate choice for videophiles, representing the epitome of quality, albeit at a premium price point. Renowned for their advanced and precise motion handling, as well as their cutting-edge local dimming algorithms, Sony consistently delivers unparalleled performance in these areas. They include Google TV software with all their TV sets, which grants access to the largest selection of apps available and they also include Bravia Core which is a movie streaming platform specifically for Sony TVs that offers higher picture quality by using more bandwidth.
