The Sony A95K is a premium OLED TV with exceptional picture quality, making it a fantastic choice for movie enthusiasts. Its OLED display provides deep blacks and vibrant colors, and the inclusion of Quantum Dot technology enhances the color spectrum even further. It's also equipped with features that cater to gamers, such as high refresh rates and 4k resolution with full color at high speeds. For sports fans, fast motion is handled very well. However, this TV is priced at the higher end of the market, so it may not be suitable for those with a tight budget. The sound system is good, supporting up to DTS Digital Surround, and the TV design allows for different pedestal positions to accommodate a soundbar. Give Feedback

Ratings by Category

Movies & TV shows:
4.9
The Sony A95K (OLED) excels in displaying deep blacks and high contrast, essential for the immersive viewing experience movies require, due to its perfect black uniformity and effective local dimming. Additionally, its wide viewing angles and excellent color volume ensure that colors are vivid and consistent, even when viewed from different angles, enhancing cinematic content.
Sports:
4.9
The Sony A95K OLED TV shines in watching sports due to its excellent motion processing that keeps fast action smooth and its wide viewing angle ensuring consistent picture quality across different seating positions. Additionally, its top-tier reflections handling minimizes distractions from ambient light, crucial for maintaining visibility during dynamic sports broadcasts.
News, Talk & Reality TV:
4.9
PerfectRec’s news, talk, & other TV score prioritizes upscaling, brightness, contrast, out of the box color accuracy, and screen uniformity. This is because almost all news and talk shows are created in Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) with lower resolutions, such as 720P and 1080P. The purpose of this prioritization is to ensure that lower resolution content looks good on a 4K display and to help you identify which TV will perform best when watching live TV via Cable, Satellite, or Antenna.
Cartoons & Animaton:
4.9
The Sony A95K excels in displaying cartoons and animation due to its excellent colors right out of the box and color gamut, ensuring vivid and true-to-life hues without the need for calibration. Its color volume is also excellent, which means it can reproduce a wide range of colors at varying levels of brightness, important for maintaining the quality of animated visuals.
Overall Picture:
4.9
The Sony A95K OLED TV delivers an excellent picture quality thanks to its perfect contrast levels and the ability to display deep blacks uniformly across the screen, which is crucial for dark scenes. Additionally, its QD-OLED panel ensures vibrant colors and a wide color gamut, with high color volume, making images pop with life-like fidelity.
Gaming:
4.7
PerfectRec’s gaming score measures a TV's performance when it comes to playing video games. It is based on several factors that can significantly impact the quality of the gaming experience, including screen response time, input lag, and refresh rate. Screen response time is a critical factor that determines how quickly the TV can transition from one color to the next, while input lag measures the delay between the gaming console output and the TV display. Refresh rate refers to the number of times per second that the TV displays a new frame, which can impact the smoothness of the gaming experience. The gaming score also takes into account two other features: local dimming in gaming mode, which can enhance contrast and picture quality, and black frame insertion, which can reduce screen brightness and create a smoother gaming experience.
Bright Room:
4.6
The Sony A95K performs well in a bright room due to its good SDR and very good HDR brightness levels, which means it can maintain visibility even when there's a lot of ambient light. Additionally, its best-in-class handling of reflections significantly reduces glare, preserving picture clarity under most lighting conditions.

Caleb Denison | March 2022
"A95K will be one of the highest-performing TVs of the year, if not the hottest TV of 2022. The color on the Sony A95K is the most accurate I have ever seen. Certain hues of red just haven’t been produced on a TV … until now. Perhaps with deeper scrutiny, I may one day find some nit to pick, but in the time I was able to spend with the A95K, I was simply thrilled."
