The Lenovo LOQ 16 is generally less expensive and provides better performance for general use, 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering tasks with more RAM and an advanced AMD processor paired with an Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU. However, it is heavier than the MSI GF65 Thin, and its battery life is a bit longer. On the other hand, the MSI GF65 Thin, while slightly more expensive and sporting less RAM and an older Intel processor, is lighter and has a gaming laptop appearance. It features an Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, which is suitable for gaming but may not handle intensive engineering or machine learning tasks as well as the Lenovo. Both have similar screen sizes and type, but the Lenovo has a higher resolution and a different aspect ratio, which might be better for productivity tasks. If portability and a gaming-oriented design are priorities, consider the MSI, but for a balance of cost and higher performance in professional and creative applications, the Lenovo could be the better choice. NotebookCheck

Christian Hintze | September 2023
"Gaming laptops with an RTX 4060 are available starting from about 1,000 Euros (~$1,060), even in 16-inch format. For the supposedly affordable Lenovo LOQ 16 (1,500 Euros, ~$1,591), the manufacturer particularly saves in the equipment and materials compared to the more expensive Legion series. In addition, the LOQ is slightly heavier and more bulky. What remains is anything but a laptop full of difficult compromises. Instead, this is a more than solid gaming laptop that focusses on the 3D performance.Q is slightly heavier and more bulky."

NotebookCheck

Allen Ngo | March 2021
"The MSI GF65 Thin offers a GeForce RTX 3060 on a budget. The MSI GF65 is a relatively inexpensive RTX 3060 laptop and, perhaps not coincidentally, it also comes with a slower-than-average RTX 3060 GPU. Other laptops we've tested thus far with the same GPU are about 10 to 15 percent faster. CPU performance is also slightly slower than average unless if users decide to enable Cooler Boost mode. Colors, black-white response times, Thunderbolt, and DisplayPort are either average or completely omitted. Gamers who want to maximize performance-per-dollar without sacrificing RAM or SSD upgradeability will find the lightweight MSI GF65 attractive."
