If you are looking for a more portable laptop with a lighter design and better battery life, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" would suit you. It has a larger display and higher resolution with a more modern processor but with a less powerful graphics card compared to the MSI GP66 Leopard. However, if sheer graphics performance is your priority and you're interested in a laptop that includes an Ethernet port and a laptop that can be considered to have a more 'gaming laptop' appearance, then the MSI GP66 Leopard, with its more powerful GPU, might be the better option for you, at the expense of portability and battery life. Both laptops have similar RAM and storage capabilities, though the Lenovo has more built-in storage. The MSI might perform slightly better in engineering and 3D/machine learning tasks due to its GPU strength, though the difference in performance may not justify the tradeoffs in battery life and portability depending on your needs. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" is very good for engineering and design, while the MSI GP66 Leopard is good.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" is preferred for engineering and design due to its superior GPU, better screen resolution and quality, and larger battery, which are crucial for demanding software and detailed visuals, although it's slightly less portable and louder than the MSI GP66 Leopard, which still offers a capable CPU and GPU for engineering tasks but has a lower resolution display and smaller battery, impacting prolonged intensive work sessions. The MSI may appeal for its Ethernet port and quieter operation, but it sacrifices some portability and has a less vibrant display compared to the Lenovo.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 has a better screen than the MSI GP66 Leopard for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 7's screen offers high resolution and brightness, making text and images sharp and clear for general tasks, and its wide color gamut ensures accurate colors for engineering and design work. However, its lower refresh rate can hinder the smoothness required in fast-paced gaming or 3D rendering. In contrast, the MSI GP66 Leopard provides satisfactory resolution and brightness for everyday tasks and sufficient color representation for creative work, but like the Lenovo, its refresh rate is less than ideal for gaming and 3D applications where fluid motion is crucial.

How the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" and the MSI GP66 Leopard compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a slim Legion notebook that is just as excellent with Nvidia & Intel. However, the Legion Slim 7i slightly sullied by lacklustre battery life. You get a slim aluminium chassis, great input devices, decent port selection, fast high-quality WQXGA display and great performance. Supporting Thunderbolt 4 is one advantage of the Intel/Nvidia model tested in this review. Moreover, this variant has slightly higher CPU performance as well as better GPU performance in certain applications (e.g. CUDA-based apps). The Lenovo Legion S7i is thin, premium and performant – but less efficient than its AMD counterpart."
"The MSI GP66 Leopard is a good budget high-performance gamer. The MSI also does a lot right outside of the pure performance despite it's low price. For example, the adaptive cooling system really surprised us positively, even in Extreme Performance Mode. And the display is not a budget panel either, but at least outshines the competition in terms of brightness. Of course, you also have to accept a few compromises in this price category. These include the Leopard's poor battery runtimes and the less than optimal build quality, which is also noticeable in the more complicated maintenance."
