The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i is often less expensive and offers better overall performance for both general use and engineering tasks, with a higher refresh rate screen and better color coverage, which is ideal for design work. It also has superior battery life. However, it is heavier and thus less portable compared to the MSI Pulse GL66. The MSI, while usually more expensive and with lower battery life, is lighter, which enhances its portability. It offers a smaller screen and less robust performance, particularly in 3D and machine learning. If gaming is a priority, the Lenovo has a slight edge. Both have backlit keyboards, but the MSI has additional RAM slots for future upgrades. If you prioritize portability and cost up front, MSI may suit you. However, for performance and long-term use, particularly in more demanding applications, the Lenovo might be a better fit. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i is very good for engineering and design, while the MSI Pulse GL66 is good.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i outperforms the MSI Pulse GL66 in engineering and design use primarily due to its more powerful CPU, GPU, and higher screen resolution which result in better visual accuracy and computing power necessary for design software. While both share quality keyboards and substantial RAM, the Lenovo's superior performance is balanced by being less portable and noisier under load compared to the MSI, which may be lighter and quieter but offers a lower screen quality and less potent hardware for intensive tasks.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i has a better screen than the MSI Pulse GL66 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i excels in screen quality for general use due to its higher resolution and brighter panel, making text and images sharper and easier to view in various lighting conditions. For engineering and design tasks, it offers a better color range which is crucial for accurately rendering visuals. However, the MSI Pulse GL66 might not provide as vibrant a display for creative professionals, but for gaming, both laptops have lower refresh rates, which can result in less fluid motion and slower response times compared to models designed specifically for gaming.

How the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i and the MSI Pulse GL66 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 acknowledges that a gaming laptop doesn’t have to be as thick as possible and can still ensure adequate cooling when the muscles need flexing. To this end, in the Slim 5 Gen 8, it finds a neat balance of refined, trimmed-down design that still lets its internals cruise (even above their max power ratings). Lenovo then added in some high-end build quality with an altogether excellent keyboard that’s useful for both work and play."
"The MSI Pulse GL66 has a lot of potential for improvement. Although the RTX 3060 is only able to use 105 watts, we still liked the gaming performance, particularly since this also makes the Pulse comfortably efficient but not slow by any means. Neither the dark display with its lame response times, nor USB 2.0 or the lack of Thunderbolt will please real gamers. The use of a sticker factory seal, which is at least questionable, also won't inspire any enthusiasm. It is obvious that the laptop is really designed for price-conscious gamers."
