If you prioritize performance and you often use intensive engineering software or play demanding games, the MSI Stealth GS77 has a higher-end GPU and more RAM, making it a better fit despite its higher price and larger size. However, for general use and portability, the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro is less expensive, lighter, and boasts a higher refresh rate screen, which may also appeal to gamers. The Legion's battery life is shorter, so you may need to stay close to a power outlet, whereas the Stealth offers a longer battery life suitable for extended use away from a charging point. The MSI Stealth GS77 is rated higher in general use than the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro, likely because the MSI offers larger storage, more RAM, and superior speaker and screen quality, along with a higher battery capacity that contributes to longer typical usage. However, it is heavier and slightly less portable than the Lenovo, which is still a solid performer with good heat management and operating noise levels.

If you prioritize screen quality for everyday tasks like browsing and watching videos, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and MSI Stealth GS77 both offer displays with ample resolution and brightness that make them excellent. However, for tasks in engineering and design that demand accurate color representation, both are equipped with displays that cover a wide range of the color spectrum, ensuring precision in your work. On the other hand, gamers and 3D designers seeking fluid motion might not find these laptops ideal due to their lower refresh rates, even though their resolutions and panel types are decent for this use.

How the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and the MSI Stealth GS77 compare to other laptops
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
"The MSI Stealth GS77 is better than the GS76... mostly. The GS77 is a few steps forward and a few steps back from the GS76. Improvements are numerous including the stronger and more rigid skeleton, higher resolution webcam, larger clickpad, easier serviceability, relatively similar battery runtimes, newer display options, and higher performance at about the same TDP and TGP levels as before. CPU performance is better than expected even when compared to other laptops with Core i7 or Core i9 processors. The newer model feels more substantial than the outgoing one for higher quality impressions as well."
