Between the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro and the MSI Stealth GS66, the Legion offers a more cost-effective option often being significantly less expensive with stronger graphics performance, making it a better choice for intensive gaming and engineering tasks. However, the Stealth GS66, despite being premium-priced and having slightly lower graphics capabilities, stands out with its lighter build, making it more portable, higher screen refresh rate which is optimal for fast-motion content, and longer battery life for extended use away from power sources. If mobility and longer usage on a single charge are vital for you, the Stealth GS66 is a preferable option. Conversely, if you seek higher performance and a better price-to-power ratio, the Legion 5i Pro should be your choice, especially for demanding applications and games. Both laptops have similar storage and RAM, but consider the overall usage, price, and performance priorities when making your decision. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i has a better screen than the MSI Stealth GS66 for general use, and engineering and design, while the MSI Stealth GS66 has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i, with its higher resolution and brightness, offers crisp and vibrant visuals that enhance productivity and content consumption, making it suitable for general use. Its color accuracy and range, meeting DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB standards, are essential for professionals in engineering and design, ensuring precise color representation. However, for gaming and 3D applications where fluid motion is crucial, its lower refresh rate may not deliver the smooth experience demanded by these tasks, which is where the MSI Stealth GS66, despite its less impressive color gamuts, would fall short as well.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Lenovo Legion Pro 5i to be very good for gaming and AI, while the MSI Stealth GS66 is good.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i shines for gaming and 3D due to its robust Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU and high screen refresh rate, while the MSI Stealth GS66, although lighter and more portable, offers slightly less GPU performance with its Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti but compensates with a higher screen refresh rate. Both laptops have capable CPUs and high-quality IPS displays, but the Lenovo's larger screen and higher resolution provide an edge in screen quality compared to the MSI's focus on extreme smoothness for fast-paced gaming.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and MSI Stealth GS66 are both very good for engineering and design.
The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro is equipped with a strong CPU and RTX 4060 GPU, implying robust performance for engineering tasks, and it features a high-resolution screen which is beneficial for design work; however, it's heavier than the MSI Stealth GS66, which, while also having a powerful CPU and a capable RTX 3070 Ti GPU, offers better portability but a lower resolution display. Keyboards and speakers on both laptops are of high quality, but the Legion's larger battery capacity might be offset by lower battery life compared to the GS66's longer battery life at the expense of a smaller capacity.

How the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and the MSI Stealth GS66 compare to other laptops
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
"The MSI Stealth GS66 is powerful enough for QHD. The Core i7-12700H and the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti found in the 12UGS model that we tested run all modern games smoothly in the native QHD resolution. The 15-inch display is very fast with its 240 Hz refresh rate, and it also offers a great color space (almost 100% DCI-P3) on top of that, which should please gamers as well as content creators, although we would have still wished for a higher brightness. Case, input devices, and connectivity (Thunderbolt 4) are at a good level. However, among other things, the GS66 loses points due to the high temperature development in 3D mode and its poor webcam."
