The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro offers superior performance for intensive tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming, supported by a high-end processor and graphics card, but sacrifices portability due to its weight and size. On the other hand, the MSI Prestige 15, while still powerful, is better suited for general use and less demanding engineering tasks; its lighter design and longer battery life complement its role as a more portable option that can handle day-to-day tasks with ease. Both are similarly priced, so your choice should reflect whether you prioritize higher performance for demanding applications or greater portability and battery life for everyday use. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is very good for engineering and design, while the MSI Prestige 15 is good.
The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro stands out for engineering and design use due to its more advanced CPU and powerful GPU, which are critical for complex computations and graphic-intensive tasks, along with a higher quality screen. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i has a better screen than the MSI Prestige 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i excels in screen quality for general use and engineering due to its high resolution and brightness, along with a wide color gamut catering to detailed visuals and color accuracy vital for design work. However, its lower refresh rate hampers the gaming and 3D experience where smoother motion is crucial. On the other hand, the MSI Prestige 15 offers a balanced screen for general and engineering tasks but, like the Legion, falls short for gaming since its refresh rate doesn't meet the high standards for fast-paced visuals in gaming and 3D modeling.

How the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and the MSI Prestige 15 compare to other laptops
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
"The MSI Prestige 15 offers a dazzling 4K image quality, and solid performance. The MSI Prestige 15 appears to consistently implement the guiding principle of throttling the solid and efficient hardware to such an extent that content creation succeeds perfectly. Performance-hungry tasks, on the other hand, are slowed down a little by the reduced power consumption. Conversely, this means that the case remains relatively cool and the dual fan subdued. The battery life also benefits somewhat. So the losses aren't really dramatic because full performance is still available for short bursts."
