If you prioritize gaming or intensive tasks and don't mind a heavier and slightly bulkier laptop with a higher price, the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro is suitable with its high-performance processor, ample RAM, and advanced GPU. However, its battery life is shorter compared to the MSI Cyborg 15, which is lighter, more portable, and priced lower but has less RAM and a processor that isn't as powerful. The MSI's longer battery life and portability may appeal if you need a laptop for general use and can sacrifice some performance. Both laptops offer similar storage and are equipped with the same GPU, but the Lenovo has a higher screen resolution, which is advantageous for tasks requiring screen clarity, such as photo editing or engineering work. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is very good for gaming and AI, while the MSI Cyborg 15 is good.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is very good for gaming and 3D due to its higher screen refresh rate and a stronger CPU which better handles graphics-intensive tasks. The MSI Cyborg 15, while also good for these purposes, has a lower screen refresh rate and a less powerful CPU, meaning its performance may not be as smooth or fast during heavy gaming or 3D rendering.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is very good for engineering and design, while the MSI Cyborg 15 is good.
The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro stands out for engineering and design use with its higher-end CPU and double the RAM compared to the MSI Cyborg 15, making it more capable for demanding tasks, while both have the same quality Nvidia GPU and screen resolution capabilities, which are essential for graphics-intensive work. However, the MSI Cyborg 15 offers easier portability and lower operating noise, which might appeal to users regularly on the move or in quiet environments, despite having less power for highly intensive tasks.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i has a better screen than the MSI Cyborg 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i likely has a screen with high resolution and brightness and a panel type that renders colors vividly and accurately, making it ideal for detail-oriented work in engineering and suitable for general use. However, its lower refresh rate may not be ideal for the fast-paced visuals required in gaming and 3D applications, where motion clarity is critical. In contrast, the MSI Cyborg 15, while it has acceptable resolution and panel type for everyday tasks and design work, may not capture the full range of color gamuts as well as the Lenovo, and its screen still falls short for gaming and 3D due to a poor refresh rate.

How the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and the MSI Cyborg 15 compare to other laptops
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
"The focus of the MSI Cyborg 15 lies on a compromise of performance, mobility, and power consumption. Due to the reduced performance settings, the CPU and GPU perform below their capabilities. Nonetheless, their computing power is still sufficient for FHD gaming at high to maximum settings even then. The power consumption, which is low for a gaming laptop, can be translated into a good battery life. Realistic values of 7 to 8 h are still possible, despite the relatively small battery capacity of 53.5 Wh. Unfortunately the USB-C port doesn't offer any support for Power Delivery, which would be a sensible feature in the case of the Cyborg."
