If you're looking for a more affordable option with possibly a slight compromise on portability and thickness, the Lenovo Legion 5 15" could be suitable. On the other hand, if you're willing to invest a bit more for a slimmer, lighter laptop that is easier to carry around, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 might appeal to you. Keep in mind that the Slim model may also have a different thermal design due to its size, which could affect performance during intensive tasks. Consider your primary use case; if it involves travel or frequent movement, the Slim version is more convenient, but for stationary use or gaming where performance and price are priorities, the standard Legion 5 is a strong contender. The Lenovo Legion 5 15" has a better screen than the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the Lenovo Legion 5 15" offers a display that strikes a balance between clarity and visibility, with a resolution and brightness that make it very suitable for everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming. In the context of engineering and design, both the Legion 5 and the Legion Slim 5 deliver good color accuracy, supporting a wide range of colors which is crucial for professionals who need precise color representation. However, when it comes to gaming and 3D applications, the lower refresh rates of these screens may hinder the experience, as they don't match the smoothness provided by displays with higher refresh rates, which are essential for fast-paced visuals.

How the Lenovo Legion 5 15" and the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo Legion 5 15 is an affordable gaming laptop with a lot of power. The new AMD processor Ryzen 7 5800H offers plenty of performance and it is also very efficient. The combination with the fast 130W version of the GeForce RTX 3060 ensures high gaming performance. We also like the fast 165 Hz display with the 1080p resolution. The automatic graphics switching causes some problems with stutters, which are very annoying. If you do not need long battery runtimes, you should definitely deactivate the hybrid graphics mode in Lenovo's Vantage app. The Legion 5 15 is never silent."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 acknowledges that a gaming laptop doesn’t have to be as thick as possible and can still ensure adequate cooling when the muscles need flexing. To this end, in the Slim 5 Gen 8, it finds a neat balance of refined, trimmed-down design that still lets its internals cruise (even above their max power ratings). Lenovo then added in some high-end build quality with an altogether excellent keyboard that’s useful for both work and play."
