The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is generally less expensive and offers a larger screen with higher resolution, which is beneficial for detailed work and media consumption. It has a more powerful GPU, making it suitable for intensive gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning tasks. However, it's heavier, which impacts portability. The MSI Stealth GS66 is more portable due to its lighter weight and has longer battery life for longer use on-the-go. Its screen has a higher refresh rate, favorable for fast-motion activities like gaming. The decision hinges on your priorities: if performance and larger screen size for intensive tasks are crucial, the Legion 5 Pro is a fit; if portability and longer battery life take precedence, the Stealth GS66 stands out. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 is very good for gaming and AI, while the MSI Stealth GS66 is good.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 stands out for gaming and 3D applications with its powerful Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU and a high refresh rate screen, making it well-suited for fast-paced games and detailed graphics work. While the MSI Stealth GS66 also has strong gaming credentials with its capable Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti GPU, it surpasses in screen refresh rate which is beneficial for extremely smooth visuals in gaming, although its lower-resolution display compared to the Lenovo might not be as sharp for detailed 3D work.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 has a better screen than the MSI Stealth GS66 for general use, and engineering and design, while the MSI Stealth GS66 has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 excels in general use and engineering/design due to its high resolution and brightness, alongside wide color gamuts that ensure sharp, vivid images and accurate color reproduction which are essential for these tasks. Meanwhile, for gaming and 3D purposes, it falls short because of its lower refresh rate, which can make fast-paced visuals less smooth and less responsive. The MSI Stealth GS66, while also having good resolution and brightness for daily tasks and sufficient color accuracy for professional work, similarly lacks a high refresh rate, making it less ideal for the immersive, fluid experience desired in gaming and 3D applications.

How the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 and the MSI Stealth GS66 compare to other laptops
"It doesn't quite match its Legion Pro 7i sibling as an Editors' Choice winner, but Lenovo's AMD-powered Legion Pro 5 Gen 8 is a stylish, well-built gaming laptop with solid performance at both 1080p and its sharper native resolution. It's cheaper than some comparably equipped machines and better than some similarly priced ones. That's a recipe for success, even without its frequent availability of discounts or sales. A brighter screen and longer battery life would be nice, but even as is the Legion Pro 5 earns a solid recommendation."
"The MSI Stealth GS66 is powerful enough for QHD. The Core i7-12700H and the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti found in the 12UGS model that we tested run all modern games smoothly in the native QHD resolution. The 15-inch display is very fast with its 240 Hz refresh rate, and it also offers a great color space (almost 100% DCI-P3) on top of that, which should please gamers as well as content creators, although we would have still wished for a higher brightness. Case, input devices, and connectivity (Thunderbolt 4) are at a good level. However, among other things, the GS66 loses points due to the high temperature development in 3D mode and its poor webcam."
