If portability and longer battery life are your top priorities, the Lenovo Legion 5 17" is the way to go, thanks to its larger battery and slightly lighter frame. The Legion also provides a larger screen, which, although reduces its portability, may be more enjoyable for immersive gaming and multitasking. Conversely, the MSI GP66 Leopard, while heavier and with a smaller display, packs a more powerful GPU, making it a better choice for high-end gaming and demanding applications like 3D rendering and machine learning tasks. Additionally, the Leopard offers double the storage capacity of the Legion 5. Both laptops have similar CPUs, RAM, and display quality, so for general use, either would serve well, but the MSI might offer slightly better performance at a higher price point. Give Feedback

For engineering and design work, where accurate color representation is key, these laptops provide wide color gamuts to meet professional standards. However, for gaming and 3D applications that demand smooth motion, the lower refresh rates on these models may not deliver the fluid visuals you're looking for.

How the Lenovo Legion 5 17" and the MSI GP66 Leopard compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo Legion 5 17 is a current-gen 17-inch gaming laptop and equipped with the latest AMD CPU and a powerful GPU, that manages to reach its full potential. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600H is a very good choice for this laptop and able to maintain its performance level for long periods of time. Our test model only falls behind consistently in a direct comparison with its competitors that are often equipped with eight cores and 16 threads. Despite this, the Legion 5 17 leaves an excellent impression and is almost able to keep up with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 mobile GPU in synthetic benchmarks."
"The MSI GP66 Leopard is a good budget high-performance gamer. The MSI also does a lot right outside of the pure performance despite it's low price. For example, the adaptive cooling system really surprised us positively, even in Extreme Performance Mode. And the display is not a budget panel either, but at least outshines the competition in terms of brightness. Of course, you also have to accept a few compromises in this price category. These include the Leopard's poor battery runtimes and the less than optimal build quality, which is also noticeable in the more complicated maintenance."
