If you prioritize gaming or running demanding engineering programs, the MSI Pulse GL66 with its stronger GPU and CPU will handle these tasks better, but it has shorter battery life and is heavier, thus less portable. However, if you need a device mainly for general use, prefer longer battery life, and value portability, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is lighter, has a longer battery life, and is more affordable, though it's not suitable for intensive tasks or gaming due to its less powerful hardware. The MSI Pulse GL66 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, both the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 and MSI Pulse GL66 have displays with adequate resolution and brightness, but the panel technology may not be the highest grade, affecting color reproduction and viewing angles. In engineering and design, while both laptops provide acceptable detail, their screens may lack the broad color gamuts needed for precise color work in applications like photo editing or graphic design. For 3D use, gamers and professionals might find the refresh rates on these laptops lower than optimal, leading to less fluid motion and slower response times, although the resolution and panel type are sufficient for moderate 3D tasks.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 and the MSI Pulse GL66 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
"The MSI Pulse GL66 has a lot of potential for improvement. Although the RTX 3060 is only able to use 105 watts, we still liked the gaming performance, particularly since this also makes the Pulse comfortably efficient but not slow by any means. Neither the dark display with its lame response times, nor USB 2.0 or the lack of Thunderbolt will please real gamers. The use of a sticker factory seal, which is at least questionable, also won't inspire any enthusiasm. It is obvious that the laptop is really designed for price-conscious gamers."
