The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro is priced higher but offers better performance, especially in engineering tasks thanks to its dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU and a more powerful AMD processor. It also has a larger screen with a higher resolution and refresh rate, which might be more suitable for tasks that benefit from more screen real estate and clarity. However, the IdeaPad is heavier and has a larger footprint, making it less portable than the MSI Modern 14. Conversely, the MSI Modern 14 is more budget-friendly, lighter, and more portable, but it compromises on the battery life and doesn't match the IdeaPad's performance, particularly for 3D rendering or machine learning. If portability and budget are your top concerns, the MSI Modern 14 is a good choice. If you prioritize performance, especially for intensive tasks and better display quality, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro would be the better option. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro offers a combination of higher resolution and brightness, making it visually appealing for everyday tasks such as browsing and video streaming. In engineering and design work, the Lenovo has an advantage due to its wider color gamut coverage, allowing for more accurate color reproduction which is vital for such professional tasks. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short in refresh rate, but the Lenovo's superior resolution and panel type do not compensate as much as a higher refresh rate would for a smoother visual experience.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro and the MSI Modern 14 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro turns out a successful all-rounder that, aside from 3D applications, always strikes a good or very good figure. This begins with the elegant metal case that isn't particularly light but fairly robust, giving a high-quality impression. The input devices are also better than those of many competitors. Both the keyboard and the touchpad are attractive and comfortable. In addition, the performance of the Ryzen 5 6600HS is easily able to keep up with the Intel competitors."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
