The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is more affordable and offers a larger screen with good battery life, making it suitable for general use and multitasking. However, the MSI Pulse GL66, while more expensive, has a more powerful processor, better graphics performance with a dedicated GPU, and higher RAM capacity, enabling it to handle intensive engineering tasks, 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming more effectively. The MSI also has a higher refresh rate display for smoother visuals but comes at the cost of shorter battery life. If portability is important, both laptops are relatively similar in size and weight. Consider the Lenovo for everyday tasks and budget-friendliness, or choose the MSI for more demanding applications and gaming. Give Feedback

The MSI Pulse GL66 is good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" has a less advanced integrated GPU and a lower screen refresh rate of 60Hz, which may not provide as smooth gaming and 3D experiences when compared to the MSI Pulse GL66, which boasts a high-performance Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU and a higher screen refresh rate of 144Hz for smoother visuals. Although both have IPS displays with similar resolutions, the more potent GPU and higher refresh rate in the MSI make it better suited for more demanding gaming and 3D tasks.

The MSI Pulse GL66 is good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is rated fair for engineering and design partially due to its adequate AMD Ryzen processor and Vega 7 graphics, but it may be limited by lower RAM capacity and the screen's lower color accuracy. In contrast, the MSI Pulse GL66 stands out with a more powerful Intel processor and dedicated Nvidia RTX GPU for higher performance, doubled RAM, and a higher screen refresh rate, better suiting intense design tasks but at the expense of a slightly lower battery life and less portability.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" has a better screen than the MSI Pulse GL66 for general use, engineering and design, and software development, while the MSI Pulse GL66 has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3's larger 17-inch screen offers ample workspace with better resolution and brightness, making it great for everyday tasks and detailed engineering work, but its standard refresh rate limits its appeal for 3D applications and gaming. The MSI Pulse GL66, while having fair capabilities in both resolution and brightness, may not stand out for any specific purpose, but its still reasonable for general and engineering use. However, like the IdeaPad, it suffers in 3D performance due to a lower refresh rate that can't deliver as smooth visuals demanded by fast-paced games or 3D rendering.

The MSI Pulse GL66 and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" are both good for general use.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" with slightly better battery life, a larger screen, and a higher screen performance score is well-suited for general use such as browsing, watching videos, and document editing, particularly if portability is not a major concern due to its larger size and decent weight. On the other hand, the MSI Pulse GL66, despite having a smaller screen, offers higher performance with a more powerful CPU and GPU, more RAM, and is more portable due to its lower weight, making it a solid choice for general use as well as for more demanding tasks such as light gaming or graphic-intensive applications.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and the MSI Pulse GL66 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
"The MSI Pulse GL66 has a lot of potential for improvement. Although the RTX 3060 is only able to use 105 watts, we still liked the gaming performance, particularly since this also makes the Pulse comfortably efficient but not slow by any means. Neither the dark display with its lame response times, nor USB 2.0 or the lack of Thunderbolt will please real gamers. The use of a sticker factory seal, which is at least questionable, also won't inspire any enthusiasm. It is obvious that the laptop is really designed for price-conscious gamers."
