If you prioritize performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, or engineering software, the Lenovo LOQ 16 is a better choice as it has a stronger processor and dedicated graphics. However, it's more expensive, slightly heavier, and offers less battery life compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17". The IdeaPad is more cost-effective, has a larger screen, and longer battery life, making it suitable for general use but with less power for demanding tasks. The LOQ 16 also has features like a higher resolution screen, faster refresh rates, and better hardware for gaming if that's relevant for your needs. Give Feedback

The Lenovo LOQ 16 is good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is only fair.
The Lenovo LOQ 16 outperforms the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" for gaming and 3D tasks primarily due to its more powerful Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU and higher screen refresh rate of 144Hz compared to the IdeaPad's Vega 7 GPU and 60Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the LOQ 16 has a better CPU, the AMD Ryzen 7, versus the IdeaPad's Ryzen 5 and offers superior screen quality with a higher pixel density, which contribute to better gaming and 3D performance.

The Lenovo LOQ 16 is good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is only fair.
The Lenovo LOQ 16 is very good for engineering and design use because it has a more powerful AMD Ryzen 7 processor and Nvidia RTX GPU that excel in demanding tasks; in contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" with its AMD Ryzen 5 integrated graphics is only fair, as it offers less computational power and graphical performance. Additionally, the LOQ 16 has a higher quality display with greater color accuracy, more RAM for multitasking, and additional features like hardware ray tracing and DLSS which are essential for advanced design work, whereas the IdeaPad 3's screen quality and RAM are more modest.

The Lenovo LOQ 16 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" for general use, gaming and AI, and content creation.
For general use, a laptop like the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 with its large 17" display provides ample workspace and good resolution for multitasking, but it might not be as bright or sharp as some smaller screens. Engineering and design professionals will appreciate the color accuracy on the IdeaPad 3 and Lenovo LOQ 16, ensuring designs appear true to life, though these displays may not cover the widest color gamuts available on more specialized screens. As for gaming and 3D, the lower refresh rates on these models won't be as smooth for fast-paced visuals, and while having decent resolution, they won’t match the responsiveness of gaming-focused machines.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and the Lenovo LOQ 16 compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
"Gaming laptops with an RTX 4060 are available starting from about 1,000 Euros (~$1,060), even in 16-inch format. For the supposedly affordable Lenovo LOQ 16 (1,500 Euros, ~$1,591), the manufacturer particularly saves in the equipment and materials compared to the more expensive Legion series. In addition, the LOQ is slightly heavier and more bulky. What remains is anything but a laptop full of difficult compromises. Instead, this is a more than solid gaming laptop that focusses on the 3D performance.Q is slightly heavier and more bulky."
