When comparing the Lenovo Flex 5 14 and the Lenovo ThinkPad T14, consider that the ThinkPad T14 often offers sturdier build quality and enhanced features suited for business, which can justify its higher price. However, for everyday tasks or if you're on a strict budget, the Flex 5 14 provides good value with its versatile 2-in-1 design, allowing for use as a tablet or laptop. If you prioritize portability and casual use, the Flex 5 could be sufficient, whereas if durability and business-oriented features are important, investing in the ThinkPad T14 would be beneficial. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 is very good for general use, while the Lenovo Flex 5 14 is good.
The Lenovo Flex 5 14 offers a balance with a capable CPU and sufficient RAM for everyday tasks, while its screen quality, lighter weight, and longer battery life make it a solid choice for portability and general use. In contrast, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14, with its superior CPU and RAM, provides robust performance for more demanding applications, and although it's less portable, it compensates with a higher-quality keyboard and better durability, catering well to professionals who prioritize performance over ease of carrying.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo Flex 5 14 is good.
The Lenovo Flex 5 14 offers a convertible design with a touch screen, which can be beneficial for designers who may need a tablet mode for drawing or direct screen interaction, but it has modest performance compared to the Lenovo ThinkPad T14, which typically provides more powerful CPU and RAM options suited for demanding engineering software. While both have good screen quality and decent GPUs for most tasks, the ThinkPad T14's build often emphasizes a more comfortable keyboard and a sturdier chassis, making it a more durable choice for extensive typing and use in various environments, albeit at the cost of being less portable than the sleeker Flex 5.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 has a better screen than the Lenovo Flex 5 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Lenovo Flex 5 14's screen may suffice for browsing and streaming, but its modest brightness and resolution might not provide the vivid detail required for professional design work or the immersive experience desired in gaming. How the Lenovo Flex 5 14 and the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 compare to other laptops
"The highlight of the latest IdeaPad Flex 5 14 is clearly its AMD CPU. The octa-core Ryzen 7 5700U is insanely fast even when compared to the best Tiger Lake Ultrabooks in the market or even Core H CPUs in many gaming laptops. It's a lot of raw processing power for what is supposed to be a budget 14-inch convertible. If your daily workloads can benefit from extra multi-thread CPU performance, then look no further than the inexpensive AMD-powered Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14. For regular on-the-road browsing or video streaming, however, a slimmer and lighter 10th gen Core Yoga, Spectre, or XPS would be a more balanced option."
"We like a lot about this laptop. It has many ports, with the inclusion of RJ45-Ethernet as a defining feature. WWAN is upgradable for maximum flexibility and the ThinkPad has many security functions. Working with the ThinkPad input devices is a lot of fun, and Lenovo puts in a serviceable Low Power panel. The AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U delivers a great performance and does not drain the battery fast. Fan noise and temperatures are nothing special, but also far away from bad. With the user replaceable keyboard, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 has a special feature rarely present on most modern laptops."
