The Acer Predator Helios 16, with its gaming-centric features, excels in performance for 3D gaming and intensive tasks like video editing or design software but is heavier, reducing portability, and typically has shorter battery life. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14, although less powerful for heavy applications, offers greater portability, longer battery life, and a more business-oriented design, making it suitable for general use and basic engineering tasks. If performance for advanced applications is a priority and the extra cost is justifiable, go for the Acer; if you value mobility and battery life for everyday tasks, the Lenovo is a better fit. The Acer Predator Helios 16 and Lenovo ThinkPad T14 are both very good for engineering and design, though the Acer Predator Helios 16 is somewhat better.
The Acer Predator Helios 16 boasts a powerful CPU, substantial RAM, and a high-end GPU that excel in complex computational tasks and graphics-intensive applications, complemented by a top-tier screen that's beneficial for detailed engineering and design work. While the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 offers a balanced mix of performance with a solid CPU, ample RAM, and a decent GPU, it gains an edge in portability and has a reputation for a sturdy keyboard, making it a more practical choice for on-the-go professionals who may sacrifice some screen quality and speaker performance.

The Acer Predator Helios 16 has a better screen than the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 has a better screen for content creation.
The Acer Predator Helios 16 offers a high-resolution display with vibrant colors and brightness, making it excellent for general use and detailed engineering tasks. However, its lower refresh rate hampers the smooth visual experience gamers look for in fast-paced 3D games. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14, with its moderate resolution and color accuracy, caters well to productivity and professional design work, but similar to the Helios 16, it falls short in gaming performance due to a refresh rate that doesn't meet the high standard for fast-paced gaming visuals.

How the Acer Predator Helios 16 and the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 compare to other laptops
"The Predator Helios 16 stacks up well against its closest competition in benchmark comparisons. The Acer Predator Helios 16 isn't perfect. It's bulky, its lid feels flimsy and some of its keys are just too damned small – but none of its problems are fatal, and it shines where it counts. The powerful graphics and processor combo are spot on for this price point, the fans stop it getting hot under pressure, and the display is as good as you’ll find under $2,500. It's simply one of the best laptops to play demanding games on."
"We like a lot about this laptop. It has many ports, with the inclusion of RJ45-Ethernet as a defining feature. WWAN is upgradable for maximum flexibility and the ThinkPad has many security functions. Working with the ThinkPad input devices is a lot of fun, and Lenovo puts in a serviceable Low Power panel. The AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U delivers a great performance and does not drain the battery fast. Fan noise and temperatures are nothing special, but also far away from bad. With the user replaceable keyboard, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 has a special feature rarely present on most modern laptops."
