The Lenovo Flex 5 16 offers versatility with its 2-in-1 design, making it suitable for those who need both a laptop and a tablet. It has a larger screen with a higher resolution and touch capability, which is great for visual tasks and general use. However, it's less portable due to its size and weight, and the battery life is shorter compared to the Surface Laptop 6. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 15" is a more traditional laptop design with a focus on portability and battery life. It's lighter, thinner, and offers longer usage on a single charge, making it ideal for professionals who are often on the move. While it has a slightly smaller screen, it still maintains a high resolution and excellent color accuracy, which is beneficial for detailed work like engineering or content creation. It also comes with Windows 11 Pro, which may be preferable for business users. In terms of performance, both laptops are equipped with 16GB of RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking. The Lenovo Flex 5 16 has an Intel i7-1255U processor with integrated Iris Xe graphics, which is suitable for general use and light gaming or creative work. The Surface Laptop 6 boasts an Intel Core Ultra 7 165H processor and an Intel Arc 8-Cores GPU, giving it an edge in more demanding tasks such as gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning. Consider the Lenovo Flex 5 16 if you value a larger touchscreen and the versatility of a 2-in-1 device for a lower midrange price. Opt for the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 15" if you prioritize portability, battery life, and enhanced performance in demanding applications, and you're willing to pay a bit more for the premium business features it offers. NotebookCheck

Andreas Osthoff | April 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 is a solidly equipped, 2-in-1 in the lower price segment. Performance is definitely sufficient for everyday tasks and in tests the battery proved itself to be very economical. That aside, there is a lot of standard fare on show and a search for real highlights ends in vain. The low color coverage and reflective display can be avoided by going for an optional 2.5K display but this also presumably results in poorer battery life. The cooling uses only one fan and leads to a raised temperature on one side of the device under load. Additionally, there is very loud fan noise, also under load or when gaming. On top of that, we also occasionally noticed electronic noises."
