The Lenovo Flex 5 16 is significantly less expensive and more portable than the Lenovo ThinkPad P16, making it suitable for users who prioritize budget and ease of carrying. It offers good performance for general use, has a touch screen, and boasts longer battery life for typical usage. On the other hand, the ThinkPad P16, while more costly and heavier, delivers superior performance in 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering software, thanks to its more powerful processor and dedicated graphics. It also has a higher-resolution display, better build quality, and features like hardware ray tracing and DLSS that cater to intensive gaming and professional creative work. The choice depends on whether the user values portability and cost savings over high-end performance and features for specialized tasks. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Andreas Osthoff | April 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 is a solidly equipped, 2-in-1 in the lower price segment. Performance is definitely sufficient for everyday tasks and in tests the battery proved itself to be very economical. That aside, there is a lot of standard fare on show and a search for real highlights ends in vain. The low color coverage and reflective display can be avoided by going for an optional 2.5K display but this also presumably results in poorer battery life. The cooling uses only one fan and leads to a raised temperature on one side of the device under load. Additionally, there is very loud fan noise, also under load or when gaming. On top of that, we also occasionally noticed electronic noises."

PCMag

Eric Grevstad | February 2023
"It's only a few months since we gave the MSI CreatorPro X17 one of our rare 4.5-star ratings and our top mobile workstation honor, but the Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 1 matches that achievement in a more premium overall build. Ultimately, its build quality, screen, and keyboard give our latest Editors' Choice nod to the Lenovo—it's enough of a monster on almost all fronts that it simply cannot be ignored."
