The HP Victus 15 offers a balance of performance and value, making it suitable for gaming and engineering tasks with its dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU and higher RAM capacity. It has a larger 15.6-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, which is great for fast-moving visuals, though the color accuracy is more average. Its battery life is moderate, and it's less portable due to its size and weight. The keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions, and it includes a number pad.
In contrast, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 13.5" is designed for portability and productivity. It's more expensive but offers a high-resolution touchscreen with excellent color coverage, making it ideal for tasks that require precision in image quality. The 3:2 aspect ratio is beneficial for document work, and the build quality is superior, with a very good keyboard and a premium look. It's also lighter and thinner, making it easier to carry around. However, it has integrated graphics, which means it's not as powerful for gaming or intensive graphics work, and it has fewer ports, which could limit connectivity options.
Ultimately, if you prioritize performance for gaming or engineering tasks and don't mind a bulkier device, the HP Victus 15 is the way to go. If you value portability, battery life, and a high-quality display for general use or business tasks, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 would be the better choice, despite its higher price point and less powerful graphics. How the HP Victus 15 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop 6 13.5" compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
