The HP Victus 15 is often significantly less expensive and might be suitable if you're on a budget. It comes with a good graphics card, suitable for casual gaming and everyday tasks, and has a sizable battery. However, the MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo has a more powerful processor, a larger and higher-resolution OLED screen that’s better for creative work, and more memory and storage, which is advantageous for demanding applications and multitasking. The MSI is also lighter and thinner, which means it's more portable. If you frequently perform intensive engineering tasks, high-end 3D or machine learning work, or need superior build quality and display, and are willing to pay a higher price, the MSI would be the better choice. The MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo has a better screen than the HP Victus 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The HP Victus 15's screen may serve everyday tasks well due to its resolution and brightness, but it may lack the wide color gamuts preferred by engineers and designers for precise color work, and the lower refresh rate diminishes its appeal for gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is key. On the other hand, the MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo offers superior resolution and color accuracy, making it ideal for demanding engineering and design tasks, but like the HP, it falls short for gaming and 3D due to a refresh rate not optimized for those high-frame-rate scenarios. For general use, both laptops will suffice, but for specialized tasks, your choice will depend on whether you prioritize color precision for creative work or gaming performance, which demands a higher refresh rate.

How the HP Victus 15 and the MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
"The MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo is meant to be a business-focused laptop, but it ends up being the MacBook challenger PC laptop enthusiasts have longed for. Not only can it meet and, in many cases, surpass the M2-powered MacBooks, but it is also surpassing the baseline M3 MacBooks, which is a giant leap forward for Intel-powered laptops. This isn’t hyperbole; this is what the numbers show."
