If you prioritize gaming or more intensive tasks and don't mind a heavier laptop, consider the HP Victus 15, as it typically offers more powerful hardware suitable for those purposes. However, if portability and a lighter weight are more important to you, and your tasks are generally less demanding like everyday office work or browsing, the MSI Modern 14 could offer sufficient performance and the added benefit of being easier to carry around. The HP may come with a higher price tag, but this could be justified by stronger performance which would be especially noticeable in more resource-intensive applications. Give Feedback

The HP Victus 15 has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
When considering the HP Victus 15, its screen offers clarity and pleasant color reproduction suitable for everyday computing and productivity tasks, but lacks the wider color gamut needed for precision in engineering and design, while the screen's lower refresh rate detracts from the immersive experience that gamers and 3D designers seek. The MSI Modern 14's display delivers adequate resolution and brightness for general browsing and office work, but the color range is not broad enough to ensure the high-fidelity color representation critical for professional creative work, and similarly, the modest refresh rate may undermine the motion fluidity in 3D applications. Both laptops' displays are not tailored to the high demands of gaming and 3D modeling, as gamers and 3D artists usually require faster refresh rates for smoother visuals, something that goes beyond what these machines primarily offer.

The HP Victus 15 and MSI Modern 14 are both good for general use.
The HP Victus 15 is equipped with a mid-range processor, moderate RAM, and a dedicated graphics card, which makes it suitable for general use and capable of handling moderate gaming or graphics tasks; it also has a larger screen and substantial battery life but is heavier, which can be less convenient for portability. In contrast, the MSI Modern 14 offers a mobile processor with integrated graphics, more RAM, and a high-resolution screen in a lighter and more compact form, ensuring better portability alongside a longer battery life, but it may not be as effective for tasks requiring significant graphics processing.

How the HP Victus 15 and the MSI Modern 14 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
