Choosing between the HP Victus 15 and the Lenovo Legion 5 depends on your preferences and needs. The HP Victus 15 is less expensive, which makes it a budget-friendly option, with a smaller 15.6-inch screen that contributes to better portability and lower weight, favorable for on-the-go usage. Conversely, the Lenovo Legion 5 has a larger 17.3-inch display, which may be more suitable for immersive gaming and productivity tasks, but it comes at a higher price and with increased weight, making it less portable. Performance-wise, the Lenovo Legion 5 is equipped with a more powerful processor and graphics card, primed for demanding tasks such as gaming and video editing, while the HP has modest specifications that can handle general use and lighter gaming. The Legion also offers a larger battery capacity, potentially leading to longer use between charges. Therefore, if affordability and portability are key, the HP Victus 15 may be the better choice; if performance and a larger screen take precedence, consider the Lenovo Legion 5, keeping in mind the higher cost and reduced portability. How the HP Victus 15 and the Lenovo Legion 5 17" compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
"The Lenovo Legion 5 17 is a current-gen 17-inch gaming laptop and equipped with the latest AMD CPU and a powerful GPU, that manages to reach its full potential. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600H is a very good choice for this laptop and able to maintain its performance level for long periods of time. Our test model only falls behind consistently in a direct comparison with its competitors that are often equipped with eight cores and 16 threads. Despite this, the Legion 5 17 leaves an excellent impression and is almost able to keep up with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 mobile GPU in synthetic benchmarks."
