The HP Victus 15 is less expensive than the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i, making it a budget-friendly option. It has a decent battery life and a good display for daily tasks. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i, while more costly, offers a higher resolution screen, a better processor, more RAM out of the box, and a more powerful graphics card, making it more suitable for intensive engineering tasks, 3D modeling, machine learning, or high-end gaming. The IdeaPad is also lighter and has a longer-lasting battery, contributing to improved portability and convenience for on-the-go users. If your priority is performance and you can invest more, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i would be the better choice, but for general use and to save money, the HP Victus 15 is a capable machine. The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i is good for gaming and AI, while the HP Victus 15 is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i outperforms the HP Victus 15 in gaming and 3D applications mainly because it features a more powerful Nvidia RTX 4050 graphics card compared to the RTX 3050 in the HP, providing smoother graphics and better overall visual performance. Additionally, the IdeaPad Pro 5i's higher screen quality with greater resolution and color accuracy contributes to a more immersive experience, despite having a slightly lower screen refresh rate.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i has a better screen than the HP Victus 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The HP Victus 15 has a display that offers adequate resolution and brightness for typical tasks like browsing and video streaming, making it pleasant to use for general purposes, but it lacks wider color gamuts essential for precision work in engineering and design, and its refresh rate isn't high enough for the smooth visuals demanded by gaming and 3D applications. The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i provides superior clarity and brightness suitable for general use and a decent representation of colors for engineering and design tasks; however, like the HP, it falls short for gaming and 3D due to a refresh rate that does not meet the higher standards for those activities. If gaming and 3D work are a priority, neither of these laptops may be ideal due to their poor refresh rates, which could lead to less immersive experiences and slower response times in fast-paced scenarios.

How the HP Victus 15 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
"Lenovo’s IdeaPad Pro 5i represents an impressive opening salvo for Meteor Lake in the ultraportable space against familiar foes from AMD and Apple. Not only does the Core Ultra 5 125H processor provide good performance across the board, but battery life remains a strong point against the Acer Swift Edge 16 with its AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor. It can’t quite match the endurance of the 15-inch MacBook Pro, but the gap is shrinking."
