The HP Victus 15 is priced higher and offers stronger performance with a faster processor and better graphics card suitable for gaming, 3D tasks, or engineering software. It also has a high refresh-rate display which is good for smooth visuals in gaming and video playback. However, it is heavier, possibly reducing portability. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" is more affordable, lighter, and thus more portable, but it has a lower-quality display and less powerful hardware, making it more suitable for general use or less demanding tasks. If you prioritize performance and can handle a heavier device, the HP Victus 15 would be the better choice, whereas if you value portability and are looking to save money, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" would suffice for basic tasks. The HP Victus 15 is good for general use, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" is only fair.
The HP Victus 15 offers a higher-resolution IPS screen and more powerful CPU and GPU, which makes it better for general use compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 with its lower-resolution TN screen and less powerful CPU, which is reflected in its fair general use assessment. While both have similar RAM and portability, the Victus 15's superior screen quality, better heat management, and stronger performance for tasks like video streaming or multitasking make it stand out, though it has a slightly shorter battery life and is heavier, which could affect its ease of carrying around.

The HP Victus 15 is only fair for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" is poor.
The HP Victus 15 is fair for gaming and 3D because it has a dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 graphics card and a higher screen refresh rate at 144 Hz, offering smoother visuals and better rendering capabilities for games and 3D applications. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" is considered poor for these tasks as it comes with an integrated Intel UHD Xe G4 graphics and a lower 60 Hz screen refresh rate, which leads to less fluid motion and weaker graphical performance.

The HP Victus 15 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
When selecting a laptop for general use, the HP Victus 15's screen offers clearer and sharper visuals due to its higher resolution and brightness than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3, making for a more pleasant viewing experience for everyday tasks. For engineering and design work, the HP Victus screen's broader color coverage ensures that colors are more accurate, which is crucial for professionals needing precision in their visuals, whereas the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 falls short in this regard. As for gaming and 3D applications, the lack of a high refresh rate on the HP Victus results in less fluid motion, which may disappoint users looking for a more immersive and responsive experience, areas where the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 also struggles due to similar limitations.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 is an enduring office notebook with a powerful Ryzen APU. Lenovo's office all-rounder easily handles office and internet applications as well as modest games - the Ryzen 5 5625U APU and 16 GB of RAM make this possible. The CPU and GPU can work at consistently high clock rates. The emission values are okay, but the noise emissions should be lower under medium to full load. The relatively light notebook (approx. 1.6 kg) achieves practical battery runtimes of about 10 to 11 hours."
